Zee5’s New Fantasy Series Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu Will Air On May 5th

Fantasy drama series Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu will start streaming on Zee5 from May 5, the platform announced on Wednesday.

Directed by National Award winner Hemant Gaba and written by Alok Sharma, the show features Meet Mukhi, Aekam Binjwe, Madhoo Shah, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Luke Kenny, Akshat Singh, Zoya Afroz, Varun Kapoor, Harshit Bhojwani, Anaya Shivan, Riva Arora, Rahul Singh and Hitesh Dave.

Fireflies centers on Parth (Mukhi), a 14-year-old boy, who meets Jugnu (Binjwe), a mystical child from the haunted forest of Bheem Mukteshwar.

“Together they embark on a journey filled with action-packed adventures, self-discovery and bedtime stories. Shot in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, this coming-of-age series unveils emotions like teenage friendship, exploration, mythology, and life lessons of good versus evil,” the synopsis reads.

“We hope Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu will prove to be a dark horse in the web space and encourage OTT platforms and production agencies to venture into fantasy genres aimed at children, teens and family audiences. “Gaba said in a statement.

Manish Kalra, Commercial Director of Zee5 India, said the streaming platform aims to delight viewers with a unique story in Fireflies.

“Fireflies combines mythology with action-packed adventure and important life lessons in an immersive way that is sure to entertain and educate young audiences. We are thrilled that viewers will experience this unique fantasy series online. its genre only on Zee5,” Kalra said.

While Fireflies is primarily aimed at teenagers, the series will appeal to all age groups, Shah said.

“…the issues it raises are very intertwined across generations, and the lessons flow not just from age and experience, but are passed down through tales of Indian mythology which, like the fireflies, light up the darkness in every way. That, I think, is the USP,” she added.

Mythologist and author Devdutt Pattanaik is the series’ script consultant with American comic book writer Ron Marz, who has worked extensively with DC and Marvel Studios, on board as a script doctor on Fireflies.
