YouTube may soon start streaming TV channels for free

Apparently, YouTube is testing a new ad-supported service – TV channel streaming. The company is currently in talks with various companies to bring TV shows, movies, and entire TV channels onto its platform. In fact, YouTube said it was already testing the service and some YouTube users were testing the waters.

For now, YouTube is gauging viewer interest and if all goes according to plan, the Google-owned service could seek a 45% cut in ad revenue. This is actually YouTube’s deal with content creators.

This appears to be another YouTube push to branch out. More recently, the streaming platform struck a deal with NFL Sunday Ticket and it will air on YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels starting this year. It’s also starting to share its ad revenue with the creators of YouTube Shorts, which would make the service more lucrative than TikTok.
