
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series begins its global journey in India

Xiaomi held a big event in India today, where the international debut of the Redmi Note 12 series was marked. In a refreshing change of pace, the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ that will be sold in India are identical to their namesakes available in China.
The launch event was for the “Redmi Note 12 Series 5G”, suggesting that Xiaomi may introduce an LTE-only member to the Redmi Note 12 family in the near future.
The Redmi Note 12 comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. It has dual cameras on the back, only one of which can be used to output images – the 48MP main shooter with PDAF.
The phone is available in green or black and costs INR 15,499 ($187/€175) for the 4/128GB variant or INR 17,499 ($210/€200) for the 6/128GB. January 11, with the phone available on Mi.com, Amazon, and retail outlets.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has the same overall design, but it’s actually a bit smaller than its vanilla sibling. It brings a Dimensity 1080 chipset and a 50MP camera, while the 5,000mAh battery supports 67W charging.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro is available in black, blue and pink. Prices are INR 24,999 ($300/€285) for the basic 6/128GB version, INR 26,999 ($325/€307) for the intermediate 8/128GB model and INR 27,999 (340 $/€320) for the top 8/256GB spec. Xiaomi is offering discounts of up to INR 3,000 ($37/€35) to first-time buyers, you can get one from January 11 in stores Mi, Flipkart and partner retailers.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is the series leader. It has the same footprint as its non-Plus sibling and shares its OLED panel and 5,000mAh battery – but it’s the first device in India with Samsung’s ISOCELL HPX sensor for the 200MP camera. Charging is also extremely fast at 120W, and the adapter comes in the retail box.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ will start from INR 25,999 ($315/€295) for the base 8/256GB variant, while the 12/256GB costs INR 28,999 ($350/€330) with discounts applicable. Color choices are Black, White and Blue. Just like its Pro sibling, this phone will be available on January 11 on Mi.com, Flipkart, and select third-party retailers.

Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 12 Discovery with 210W charging and a smaller 4300mAh battery won’t come out of China, and we still have to see if the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed escapes the domestic scene and under what name.
