Xiaomi Band 8, Sound Move speaker, 86-inch mini LED smart TV unveiled

Continuing coverage of the new Xiaomi products that were announced today brings us to the Xiaomi Band 8, the Sound Move speaker and the new 86-inch mini-LED smart TV.

Xiaomi Band 8

The eighth iteration of the Xiaomi Band series retains the 1.62-inch AMOLED pill-shaped screen of its predecessor with a resolution of 490 x 192 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. Always on Display support and a maximum brightness of 600 nits compared to 500 nits on Band 7.

Band 8 comes with many official strap options from Xiaomi, including all kinds of materials such as leather, nylon fabric, and metal in different styles. Xiaomi also offers a pendant accessory as well as a clip that can be attached to your shoes for more advanced posture tracking and monitoring.

The notebook is still 5 ATM waterproof and weighs 27 grams. The health tracking sensors remain unchanged with a heart rate monitor, blood oxygen level tracking as well as sleep and stress tracking.

You get the same basic fitness tracking package, but with the added benefit of interactive fitness classes that leverage Band 8’s accelerometer to help track your movements in real time. These classes will be offered on Xiaomi’s Mi Fitness app with walkthroughs displayed on your phone or tablet.

Xiaomi enjoys longer battery life with 16 days with typical usage and 6 days with AOD mode enabled. Band 8 also gets a new two-pin charger that promises a full charge of the 190mAh battery in an hour.

Xiaomi Band 8 is priced at CNY249 ($40 converted) and CNY299 ($43 converted) for the NFC version. International prices and availability were not detailed.

Xiaomi Sound Move Speaker

Xiaomi also unveiled a new smart speaker dubbed Sound Move. It brings an aluminum casing, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, LHDC codec support and is IP66 rated for water and dust. There’s a row of touch controls on the side, including a button for summoning a digital assistant.

The device is equipped with two 7.5W drivers and two passive radiators with tuning by Harman Kardon. Battery life is rated at 21 hours of playtime on a single charge thanks to a 4,150mAh battery.

Xiaomi 86 inch Mini Smart LED TV

Xiaomi’s new 86-inch Mini LED Smart TV offers 4K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and up to 2000 nits peak brightness. Xiaomi has a new in-house developed picture quality engine that should optimize all kinds of content playing on the TV.

The TV is equipped with a Cortex A73 processor and a Mali-G52 GPU, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You also get a set of 70W speakers and 3 HMDI 2.1 ports. The software side is handled by MIUI TV.

The price is set at CNY 15,999, converted to $2,327 at today’s exchange rate.
