Xbox Series S price in India rises almost 6% to Rs. 36,990 From June 30: Report

Xbox hardware prices would increase in India – from June 30. The Xbox Series S, priced at Rs. 34,990 since launch, will soon cost Rs. 36,990, which is a price increase of almost 6%. The cost of the Xbox Wireless Controller – the one that comes with the Series S/X – increases by almost 4% from Rs. 5,390 to Rs. 5,590. And finally, the Xbox Wireless Headset goes up from Rs. 8 990 to Rs. 9,490, a jump of more than 5%. There’s no word on a price increase for the Xbox Series X – available at Rs. 49,990 in stock – which is curious. In a statement to Gadgets 360, Microsoft India confirmed that it was “updating suggested retail prices” due to “market conditions”.
“After careful observation of market conditions in India, we are updating the suggested retail prices for Xbox consoles in the country,” a Microsoft spokesperson said in a prepared statement to Gadgets 360 on Friday. assess the value and prices of our products to reflect changes in regional markets. It’s not a decision we make easily, and we understand the impact on our customers, but it’s necessary so that we can continue to deliver the best Xbox experience that fans know, love and expect. Microsoft stopped short of confirming the new prices, nor did it acknowledge our Series X query.
Industry insider Rishi Alwani, formerly of Gadgets 360, brought word price revisions across the board for Xbox’s hardware lineup in India on Thursday. “Without reason [has been] given”, Alwani Noted afterwards. Microsoft’s comment on “market conditions” suggests that our speculations might have been correct. In 2022, the Indian Rupee (INR) has further weakened against the US Dollar (USD). Since the launch of Xbox Series S/X in November 2020, 1 USD has gone from the equivalent of INR 74 to INR 78. That’s a change of over 5%, roughly in line with Xbox price increases in India.
Because of this, we may soon see other companies raise the prices of their products in the same way. With global inflation already increasing the prices of daily necessities, this will only further impact consumers’ wallets. A video game console might be a luxury item, but nonetheless, buyers are going to feel the pinch. While the Xbox Wireless Controller is usually available for less than the official MRP, the Xbox Series S has only been offered for sale once – and that was before its late 2020 launch. No such offer never existed for the Series X, which continues to experience supply constraints.
As of June 30, the Xbox Series S is said to cost Rs. 36,990, the Xbox Wireless Controller is priced at Rs. 5,590, and the Xbox Wireless Headset comes in at Rs. 9,490 in India.
