Worrying stats highlight major issue with Solskjaer’s Manchester United
An insight into one of the biggest problems facing Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been provided on Tuesday.
Atalanta vs Manchester United
Atalanta and Manchester United are currently locked in Champions League action at the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.
The two sides would also face off in the in Champions League last month, with Man United coming out on top in that clash thanks to a late comeback which saw Cristiano Ronald net the winner.
Atalanta, though, were nowhere near full strength for the meeting at Old Trafford and were expected to prove a tougher test this time around.
And, in the opening exchanges, the Italians would do exactly this when Duvan Zapata burst into the United box before cutting it back to Josip Ilicic, who slotted his effort under David de Gea.
Worrying Manchester United stats emerge
Following the opening goal on Tuesday, a worrying stat concerning Manchester United has emerged.
As per Opta:
Man Utd have failed to keep a clean sheet in 14 of their last 15 UEFA Champions League games, with their only shutout during this period coming against RB Leipzig in October 2020
14/15 – Man Utd have failed to keep a clean sheet in 14 of their last 15 UEFA Champions League games, with their only shutout during this period coming against RB Leipzig in October 2020 (5-0). Trailing. #ATAMUN

Said stat shows that it is defensively where Man United are seemingly struggling most under Solskjaer and, if they ever want to achieve anything major under the Norwegian, their defence needs to become much, much tighter.
Elsewhere, it was reported that United have now conceded first in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions:

For comparison, Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel have conceded just three goals in 10 league games this season, and just one in four Champions League ties.
