Wolves dealt hammer blow as extent of Nelson Semedo’s injury confirmed

An update on the wellbeing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo has been provided late on Thursday evening.

For those not aware, Portuguese international Semedo was forced to sit out Wolves’ most recent outing versus West Ham this past weekend.

This came after the ex-Barcelona man limped out of proceedings late in the club’s meeting with Arsenal this day last week, after going to ground clutching his hamstring.

With Semedo in the midst of what many would no doubt argue was his best spell of form since swapping the Camp Nou for Molineux, all of a Wolves persuasion, in turn, had since been anxiously awaiting an update on the stopper’s wellbeing.

And, as alluded to above, precisely that has, on Thursday, been forthcoming.

The news, however, is of an altogether disappointing nature for both Semedo, and his club.

As per the reliable John Percy, Midlands-based reporter for the Daily Telegraph, Wolves’ first-choice right-back has been ruled out for what is expected to be the next four to eight weeks:

Palace test

Turning attentions back towards the pitch, Wolves’ first outing on the back of the news surrounding their Semedo-shaped blow comes in the form of a Premier League showdown with Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Bruno Lage’s troops are set to welcome the Eagles to Molineux, no doubt desperate to get the club’s form back on track.

This comes with the Midlands outfit having seen their European ambitions for next season dealt a pair of altogether considerable blows over the course of the last week, in the form of back-to-back defeats at the hands of Arsenal and West Ham.
