Within an hour, rumours were flying surrounding the potential appointment of Antonio Conte, a rumour which has since been widely reported.

But he will, of course, require financial backing.
Conte given 100 million to spend in January as he targets six players
Now, as per reports stemming from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Antonio Conte will be given 100 million euros to spend in January as he targets a squad overhaul. Dan Kilpatrick, of the London Evening Standard, also revealed that “Conte will be given assurances of funds to rebuild the squad”.
He did, however, also warn that:
“January is never a good time to spend big, so I wouldn’t expect fireworks then if he does get the job, but he has been offered assurances he will have money to improve the squad going forward.”
Nevertheless, if reports in Italy are to be believed, there are six players on Conte’s wishlist. As per the same outlet, Conte has identified three positions that need improvement: Central defence, central midfield and striker.
To this end, he is keen on Alessio Romagnoli, Matthijs De Ligt and Stefan de Vrij. who he worked with at Inter Milan, at the heart of his defence. He is also keen to reunite with Marcelo Brozovic, while further forward he is targetting Federico Chiesa and (perhaps more realistically) Dusan Vlahovic.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether he will receive the backing from the top, but with Fabio Paratici and now Antonio Conte in north London, the Serie A could continue to be a happy hunting ground for Spurs.
