Villa, meanwhile, fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Watford on the opening weekend, but bounced back with a win over Newcastle United last time out.

Why Tyrone Mings missed out for Aston Villa vs Brentford
Ahead of the tie, Aston Villa would release their staring line-up an hour before kick-off.
The line-up was largely as expected, with Dean Smith having already confirmed on Friday in his press conference that Bertrand Traore and Leon Bailey would miss out through injury.

However, there was a big noticeable absence from the matchday squad, with now captain Tyrone Mings not even on the bench vs Brentford.
Villa, though, have since provided an explanation for the defender’s absence, stating:
Captain Tyrone Mings misses today’s clash against Brentford due to injury.
John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey are currently following government guidelines with regards to Covid-19.
