Why senior figures at Arsenal are not keen on Aubameyang joining Newcastle
Aubameyang out in the cold
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found himself in hot water at the back end of 2021 due to a disciplinary breach.
It was later explained that Aubameyang was dropped due to a late return from a trip abroad.
It was then confirmed by Arsenal that Aubameyang has been stripped of the club’s captaincy.
As a result, Aubameyang would go on to miss Arsenal’s last six Premier League matches, though he did leave before the last one vs Manchester City to join up with Gabon for the African Cup of Nations.
Regardless, Aubameyang is still seemingly out in the cold and it has been reported that Arsenal are willing to let the forward leave the club in January.
Why Arsenal are not keen on Aubameyang joining Newcastle
A number of teams have been linked with Aubameyang following his issues at Arsenal, including Barcelona and Newcastle.

Now, though, a report from the Daily Star has provided some insight into why Newcastle may not be able to land Auba.
The report mentions interest from both Barca and Newcastle, claiming that the Spaniards have a long-running interest in Aubameyang, adding that Gunners chiefs have checked in with the La Liga side to see if they would like to take the forward off their books this month.
Elsewhere, a loan move to Newcastle, who would be willing to pay the bulk of the African’s £300,000-a-week wage, is also mentioned.
However, it is added that senior figures at Arsenal fear Aubameyang remaining in the Premier League could be an unwanted sideshow as Arsenal push for a top-four finish.
