Why Ryan Bertrand missed Leicester City’s meeting with Wolves
Leicester vs Wolves
Leicester City are set to get their 2021/22 Premier League campaign underway very shortly.
The Foxes’ first outing of the season sees them pitted against a new-look Wolves side.
Bruno Lage is now at the helm after Nuno Espirito Santo departed the club earlier this year.
Wolves should prove a stern test for the Foxes, who head into this match fresh off the back of their Community Shield win over Manchester City last weekend.
Leicester have now won two trophies under Brendan Rodgers, clinching the FA Cup back in May, and will no doubt be keen to get their league campaign off to a good start and finally earn Champions League football under Brendan Rodgers.

Why Ryan Bertrand missed out for Leicester vs Wolves
Ahead of kick-off, both sides released their starting line-ups an hour before kick-off.
Leicester’s XI was fairly standard, with new signings Patson Daka, Jannik Vestergaard and Boubakary Soumare named on the bench.
One noticeable absentee from the entire matchday squad, however, was Ryan Bertrand:
Subs: Ward, Vestergaard, Choudhury, Soumaré, Dewsbury-Hall, Praet, Albrighton, Daka, Iheanacho.#LeiWol

The left-back had a promising pre-season and would start vs Man City last Saturday. So, his absence against Wolves did seem somewhat odd.
An explanation has, however, since been provided for the full-back’s omission, with it confirmed that he has tested positive for Covid-19:
