Why Reguilon & Rodon were left on the bench for Tottenham’s meeting with Chelsea
An insight into the failure of defensive duo Sergio Reguilon and Joe Rodon to make it onto the pitch during Tottenham’s meeting with Chelsea on Wednesday night has been provided.
Havertz amongst the goals
Antonio Conte’s men were of course back in action a little less than 24 hours ago.
In a crucial outing amid the club’s ongoing efforts to bring an end to their long-standing silverware drought, Spurs made the trip to Stamford Bridge, for a showdown with capital rivals Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
When all was said and done, however, the Lilywhites’ trophy hopes were dealt yet another significant blow.
After being dominated throughout, Conte and co. were eventually put to the sword by two goals to nil, owing to a Kai Havertz strike, and Ben Davies’ own goal just past the half-hour mark.

Reggy & Rodon miss out
Spurs, in turn, have it all to do next week, when they welcome Chelsea to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the tie’s reverse leg.
The Lilywhites, though, may yet be forced to see out proceedings in North London without the services of a pair of defenders.
This comes after word arrived earlier this afternoon that Antonio Conte was unable to call on either Sergio Reguilon or Joe Rodon at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
As per a report from the reliable Alasdair Gold of football.london, both Reguilon and Rodon, both of whom were expected to play at least some role in the cup clash, were left on the bench owing to injury.
The former is understood to have missed out owing to a ‘minor’ fitness problem, whilst Welshman Rodon continues to struggle with a rib problem.
Updates on the wellbeing of the pair are expected over the coming days.
