Manchester United take on Atalanta

Fresh off the back of a resounding 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, which effectively kept Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his job, Manchester United travel to Bergamo to take on Atalanta in the Champions League.

On six points after three games, the Red Devils need a victory to really boost their chances of qualification, before they take on Villareal and Young Boys at Old Trafford in the final two group games.

It is another game in which their credentials, and those of Solskjaer, will be sorely tested, given that it took a comeback from 2-0 down involving a Cristiano Ronaldo to pick up all three points when the Serie A side at Old Trafford.

As such, Manchester United have named their 25 man squad to travel to take on Gasperini’s side on Tuesday evening.

Why Victor Lindelof didn’t travel revealed

Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans will have spotted that Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof was not named in the 25 taken to Italy, despite having been a key part of the Manchester United side in recent weeks.

And now, an explanation has been provided. As per Simon Peach of ESPN, Lindelof is absent “after picking up a knock in training” on Monday.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still on the ropes, he moved to a back three against Tottenham, which involved Lindelof alongside Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane. Should he wish to keep a back three, he will now be forced to move Luke Shaw to centre back, or bring in the unfavoured Eric Bailly to take the place of Lindelof.

It also raises questions about the implications about the Manchester derby, due to be played this weekend.
