Man United head into the game in pretty poor form, having just won one of their last four in all competitions.
And, after losing their opening Champions League clash of the season to Young Boys, all three points are very much needed on Wednesday.
Villarreal are not expected to be a pushover, though, with Emery’s side, of course, having already beaten Manchester United in the 2021 Europa League final earlier this year.
Man United are also set to be without both Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the game.
Why Liverpool scouts are set to attend the game
As revealed above, Liverpool scouts are expected to be in attendance at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
And the reason for this has been given by the Mirror, citing Dutch outfit Voetbal International:
Liverpool scouts have reportedly been tasked to attend Manchester United’s clash with Villarreal as the club look for a successor for Sadio Mane.
The player in question is said to be winger, Arnaut Danjuma, who the Reds are said to be particularly charmed by and feel his skillset and attributes make him a potential candidate to replace Mane in the years to come.
Danjuma has scored three in six since he joined Villarreal from Bournemouth over the summer.
Their target has been tipped to go “as high as he wants to” 😯https://t.co/ypAZQTgU8o
