Chelsea head into the game looking to continue their fine unbeaten start to the season, with a League Cup victory over Aston Villa in midweek their latest triumph.
Man City, on the other hand, have struggled somewhat this term, having already dropped points to Tottenham and, most recently, Southampton.
Why Ilkay Gundogan & Zinchenko are out vs Chelsea
Ahead of the tie, both sides would release their starting line-ups an hour before kick-off.
Thomas Tuchel made some interesting changes to his side, and would appear to line up in a 3-5-2 – the formation the Blues switched to midway through the Tottenham game last week before going on to win 3-0:

Man City, meanwhile, would welcome back Aymeric Laporte and Rodri to the starting line-up, whilst John Stones also returned on the bench.
There were, however, two big noticeable omissions from City’s matchday squad in the form of Ilkay Gundogan and Oleksandr Zinchenko:

However, Man City have now provided an explanation for the pair’s absences, confirming that Gundogan is carrying a knock and Zinchenko is still out with the injury that saw him miss Southampton last weekend as well.
