Why Chris Wood’s strike for Burnley vs Leeds is a historic Premier League goal
Burnley vs Leeds
Burnley would play host to Leeds United on Sunday afternoon in a Premier League clash.
The Clarets would head into the tie looking for their first points of the campaign.
Sean Dyche and co. had previously lost 2-1 to Brighton and then 2-0 vs Liverpool this season.
Leeds were also going in search of their first win of the campaign after losing to Manchester United and drawing with Everton in their previous two PL outings of 2021/22.

Chris Wood’s historic Premier League goal
At present, though, it is Leeds United who are set to pick up their first win of the campaign.
Despite their previously poor record against the North Yorkshire outfit, Burnley would have several promising spells throughout the game on Sunday.
And Burnley would make one of those spells count shortly after the hour-mark when their top-scorer from last season, Chris Wood, fired Burnley in front:

As well as, at the time of writing, looking set to earn his side a big three points, Wood’s strike against Leeds is also a historic one.
As per Opta, Wood’s goal against the Yorkshire outfit is the 30,000th goal ever scored in the history of the Premier League:
