Declan Rice linked with West Ham exit

Despite his tender years, Declan Rice has been a mainstay in West Ham’s midfield for some time now.

All told, the 22-year-old has notched up 148 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.

So impressive has Rice been of late that he is now West Ham’s captain under David Moyes the majority of the time.

Rice has also established himself as an integral member of Gareth Southgate’s England set-up, earning 24 national team caps since his debut in March of 2019.

In turn, such clear quality and potential have inevitably seen Rice pique the attention of some of the Premier League’s heavy-hitters, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

It was also reported by Euro Sport in June that Rice is understood to be increasingly open to the idea of leaving West Ham this summer.

Chelsea & Rice

Chelsea, who continue to be left short-staffed in central midfield by the recurring issues of N’Golo Kante, would likely benefit hugely if they were to sign Declan Rice.

And, according to Simon Johnson of The Athletic, both Rice and Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni were put on the wishlist months ago.

However, Johnson also adds that neither moves look like happening in this window.

Instead, The Athletic reporter claims that an attempt to sign Rice is being earmarked for next year instead:
