What Bernardo Silva has previously said about Mikel Arteta amid Man City star’s links to Arsenal

Bernardo Silva wants to leave Man City

Jack Grealish completed his transfer to Manchester City earlier this week.

At City, it has been reported that Pep Guardiola will look to use Grealish as a no.8 alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan.

This would of course see Bernardo Silva’s minutes likely reduced somewhat. But as Pep confirmed on Friday, the Portuguese is actually looking to leave the club.

When quizzed on the possibility of Bernardo leaving, the Spaniard stated:

“He’s our player. Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave but they are our players under contract and when they bring some offer and their agents come here and they want to leave we are open to discuss absolutely everything but it depends on them. Otherwise, they will continue training really well, they will stay here and I will decide if they stay or don’t stay. The players who want to leave know the door is open because we don’t want anyone here unsatisfied but they have to bring someone. Otherwise, they will stay here.”

What Silva has said about Mikel Arteta

On the back of said comments, speculation has begun to mount as to where Silva could end up.

One destination touted has been Arsenal, with the Mirror reporting that the Gunners are exploring the possibility of signing Silva as a James Maddison alternative.

Mikel Arteta already has first-hand experience with Silva from his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.

And now, football.london have revealed what Silva has previously said about the now Arsenal boss.

Following his departure from City to take the Arsenal job, Silva tweeted that Arteta was a great manager and person:

“A great manager and person! All the best Mikel.”
