What Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham said to club staff following transfer window shutting

Arsenal’s 2021 summer window

Arsenal were one of the most active and highest spenders in the Premier League this summer.

The Gunners would bring in six senior players to the club over the summer, all on permanent deals.

These players were Ben White from Brighton, Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United, Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna, Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht and Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

On the outgoing front, meanwhile, Joe Willock to Newcastle was Arsenal’s only permanent sale, leaving the north London outfit with the highest net spend in the Premier League from the summer window:

Arsenal chief’s message to staff

Despite what looks to have been a fairly decent window with a number of promising young stars coming in, Arsenal are currently struggling in the league.

They have lost their opening three games of the Premier League campaign without scoring a single goal.

Now though, after the summer window shut, the Evening Standard revealed that Arsenal chief executive Vina Venkatesham sent out a message to all Arsenal staff last night.

The message, as per the Evening Standard, was as follows:

“Of course, I write this update against the backdrop of a hugely disappointing start to the season. I know how tough this is for all of you, both as supporters and employees, with criticism coming from all angles.

“At times like this it is critical we stick together and stay positive. We have a very important run of games coming up after the international break and I’m confident we can and will come out fighting.”
