‘Western Validation Is Good But Not Necessarily A Hill To Die On’ – AFRIMMA CEO Reacts To Wizkid’s Grammy Award Loss
CEO of Big A Entertainment and founder of AFRIMMA Awards, Anderson Obiagwu has also reacted to Wizkid’s recent double Grammy loss at the 64th edition.
The well known music executive took to his official social media pages to share reacts to the Starboy’s loss at the music biggest night held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Las Vegas, Nevada on April 4, 2022.
Wizkid’s album, ‘Made In Lagos’ was nominated for the Best Global Music Album category but lost to legendary African musician, Angelique Kidjo’s album, ‘Mother Nature’. Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ also lost the Best Global Music Performance to Arooj Aftab’s ‘Mohabbat’.

Anderson Obiagwu reacting to loss stated that, African Music is the fastest growing genre in the world today and with or without Western validation, the impact can’t be denied”. He added that it’s up to Africans to lift up the sound and the brand because nobody can tell our story batter than ourselves.
