West Ham boss David Moyes provides Aaron Cresswell injury update

West Ham United boss David Moyes has, on Sunday evening, provided an update on the wellbeing of defender Aaron Cresswell.

Citizens triumph

Moyes of course led his troops back into action earlier today.

After recovering from a hugely disappointing 1-0 downing at Wolves last weekend courtesy of a Europa League triumph on Thursday night, the Hammers made the daunting trip to the Etihad, for a Premier League showdown with champions Manchester City.

West Ham headed into proceedings desperate for an altogether unlikely 2nd win on the bounce, after being joined in 4th-place by Mikel Arteta’s in-form Arsenal 24 hours prior.

When all was said and done, however, the class of City simply proved too much.

Though the visitors did manage to pull one back deep into injury-time courtesy of Manuel Lanzini, earlier strikes on the part of Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho ultimately proved enough to guide the Sky Blues to all three points.

‘He’s okay’

West Ham’s woes in Manchester, however, were not restricted solely to the eventual result.

This comes with the capital outfit having also been dealt not one, but two blows on the personnel front over the course of the 90 minutes.

First, just shy of the hour mark, the struggling Said Benrahma was hauled off, after failing to run off what appeared to be a foot problem.

Then, Aaron Cresswell followed suit just minutes later, after colliding with the woodwork in nasty fashion.

And, as alluded to above, in the aftermath of the action coming to a close at the Etihad, David Moyes has since provided an update on the wellbeing of the latter.

In news which will no doubt be met with widespread relief on the part of the West Ham faithful, the club’s boss has confirmed that his starring left-back is ‘okay’, with his early departure from Sunday’s proceedings having come due to his back going ‘a bit stiff’.
