West Brom’s stance on fee required to land West Ham-linked Matheus Pereira revealed following Brazilian’s Twitter statement

Matheus Pereira a standout

After impressing in their promotion-winning campaign, Matheus Pereira was signed by West Brom on a permanent basis in August of 2020.

The Brazilian then went on to enjoy a solid 2020/21, despite the Baggies being relegated from the Premier League once again.

In 33 league ties Pereira was able to score 11 goals and provide six assists for West Brom and was by far and away their best player across the season.

West Brom’s Pereira stance

But with West Brom now set to be plying their trade in England’s second-tier once again, Pereira’s future has been called into question of late.

One of the main clubs to have been linked with the 25-year-old has been West Ham, with reports on Monday suggesting the London-based outfit were leading the race for Pereira:

This was followed by Pereira taking to his official Twitter account and expressing his desire to leave West Brom:

Now, on Tuesday, The Athletic have provided an update on West Brom’s stance on parting ways with Pereira.

They report that West Brom want 30 million pounds for Pereira, and whilst there is a feeling among those interested that they would do a deal for 5 million less, the club are adamant that they will not budge on their valuation of the player even after his Twitter statement.

Interestingly, it is added that, so far, no suitor has come close to meeting their valuation.
