WATCH: Serena Williams Emulates Roger Federer’s Backhand During Wimbledon Championship 2021 Practice
Serena Williams and Roger Federer are two of the greatest players in the women’s and men’s categories. They both have won numerous titles, Grand Slams, and have made a name for themselves. In a recent Instagram video, Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena’s coach, posted a video of her training. In the video, she showed her skill with the backhand shot, and Patrick compared it to Federer’s backhand shot.
Roger Federer plays one of the best backhand shots in the world, and it is visible on the court. He rallies with his opponent for around six-seven shots, playing a rhythmic cross-court rally. Just as the opponent settles down, he hits the ball down the line, and the ball falls exactly inside the court, which is out of the opponent’s reach. The trademark Federer backhand is a dream most players want to realize.

Roger Federer and Serena Williams: The GOATs of tennis
Serena Williams and Roger Federer have achieved everything in tennis and are well deserving of the GOAT title. Serena and Roger will be aiming for their 24th and 21st slam titles at the Wimbledon Championship 2021, respectively.
The greatness of these two players is never unnoticed, even though they have been out of form in recent years. Serena last won a Slam title in 2017, whereas Roger won in 2018, and they had both won the Australian Open. Injuries have now become a part of their career, as age is not on their side anymore, but the longevity of these two players is the commendable thing about them.
Serena playing the backhand in training
The video shows the perfect backhand that Serena was playing while training for the Wimbledon Championship, which begins on Monday. Serena is known for her powerful serves, strong forehand shots, and double-handed backhand strokes. However, she has replicated a Roger Federer-esque single-handed backhand down the touchline.
Even though she might not be the best player from a technical point of view, she often gets past her opponents through sheer willpower, and she defeats the opponent with her mind. Over the year, she has garnered all the experience in the world to outperform her opponent through her will.
