Wales dealt huge blow as Gareth Bale ruled out with “long term injury”

Bale key to Wales qualification

Gareth Bale has not always been flavour of the month in Madrid, with controversy following the Welshman over his dedication to both Wales and golf over Los Blancos.

However, the forward had found a new lease of life under new boss Carlo Ancelotti, starting all three of Real Madrid’s opening fixtures ahead of the international break and finding the back of the net to boot.

Now 32, he is unlikely to be a long term solution for Madrid, but remains crucial to his country, for whom he has scored 36 goals in 98 appearances. Most recently, he netted a hat-trick as the Welsh defeated Belarus in a World Cup qualifier, which has seen them remain in the hunt for qualification to the 2022 World Cup.

The Welsh currently sit third in Group E, level on points with the Czech Republic but having played a game fewer than the side above them.

Bad News for Wales

However, with the next round of qualifiers less than a month away, Wales have been dealt a massive blow as reports from Spain suggest that Bale has suffered a serious hamstring injury.

As per the reports:

The Welshman has a long-term injury to the hamstrings of his right leg.

With fixtures against the Czech Republic and Estonia coming up, before a trip to table-toppers Belgium in November, the timing could not have been worse for the nation, who have come to rely on their talismanic figure.

Hopefully for their sake, reports have been overstated and Bale is only out for a short while.
