The latest concerning incident of crowd trouble in the top-flight of French football arrived this afternoon.
All square
The incident in question was forthcoming during the Derby du Nord showdown between Lens and Lille.
The two sides are currently facing off in Ligue 1, with the visitors having entered proceedings in desperate search of all three points, on the back of a dismal start to the defence of their title.
It was hosts Lens, however, who ultimately went on to dominate the opening 45 minutes.
Nevertheless, upon the whistle sounding for half-time, the scoreline was locked at 0-0, amid a tense atmosphere at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Lens fans spark chaos
As outlined above, though, it is not the action between the two sets of players which has since grabbed attentions across the football landscape on Saturday evening.
Instead, this has come in the form of yet another instance of crowd disturbance in France’s top-tier.
Just weeks after the chaos which ultimately culminated in players, staff and supporters alike being hit with bans on the back of a near-riot during the meeting between Nice and Marseille, the Stade Bollaert-Delelis pitch was too flooded by members of the crowd.

Those in question came from the Lens end, who, upon the half-time whistle sounding, made their way across to the visiting supporters – via the pitch – only to be thwarted in their efforts to enter the stand by the police presence in attendance.
