“Upgrade, Rear Wing or the Engine”: Hamilton Calls on Mercedes to ‘Find Some Performance’ After Verstappen Styrian GP F1 Defeat
The first of two races at the Red Bull Ring is done and dusted, with Max Verstappen winning the race from pole position. While his arch-rival, Lewis Hamilton had to settle for second place.
The Mercedes driver feels that the Brackley-based squad needs an upgrade as they missing out on pace, where Red Bull seems to dominate.
Lewis Hamilton urges Mercedes to bring in an upgrade
Speaking after the race, Lewis said, “We need an upgrade of some sort. We are not sure if it’s the rear wing or the engine but we need to find some performance from somewhere.”
The Knight will be hoping that an upgrade will come soon enough as just in a week’s time, they will be racing at the same track. He has managed to be on the tail of Verstappen in the title race but is hoping to regain his lead and claim his eighth title.
How did it affect the championship?
Red Bull’s Verstappen won the Styrian Grand Prix, giving him the twenty-five points that he needed to extend his lead against, Hamilton. While the Brit managed to come second and score nineteen points, an extra for the setting the fastest lap, that wasn’t good enough to help regain the lead.
An eighteen-point gap exists between the two talented drivers, and with the next round still being at the Red Bull Ring, Hamilton is hoping to have improved and take the fight to the Dutchman.
Do you think the Knight will find the pace in a week’s time and defeat Max in the next round of the championship? Let us know in the comments below.
