
UIDAI, SETS Partner for Research and Development in Deep Tech, Emerging Technologies: All the details

The Unique Identification Authority of India and the Public Corporation for Electronic Transactions and Security on Thursday signed a pact to conduct joint research for the development of tools and products in the fields of advanced technology, according to an official statement.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two organizations will conduct joint research in deep technologies and emerging technology areas such as cybersecurity, IoT security, mobile device security, financial network slice security and physical security, etc.
Scientists and officials from both organizations will work on artificial intelligence and blockchain technology for cybersecurity, quantum security and cryptography-focused innovations, such as quantum random number generator, libraries of Crypto API, Quantum-Safe cryptography, etc. “, reads the press release.
The move is part of the “Make in India” initiative and aims to improve information and cybersecurity autonomy and reduce reliance on tools developed outside the country.
Officials from SETS and UIDAI will be engaged to propose and execute joint research projects and develop tools and products for use not only in the UIDAI ecosystem but also in other critical computing infrastructures, according to the release.
UIDAI has issued over 1.36 billion Aadhaar numbers to residents which can grant eligible applicants access to over 1,700 central and state government welfare schemes. Technology has played a central role in the development and operation of the Aadhaar system.
