Ubisoft teams up with The Sandbox to bring Rabbids to the Metaverse

Ubisoft continues its foray into new frontiers in the Web3 realm, announcing a partnership with metaverse platform The Sandbox, which will see the company bring its notable game franchises to the world of Ethereum-based gaming. Ubisoft will launch its interactive space in The Sandbox with its Rabbids franchise, bringing blocky recreations of the wacky, rabbit-like alien creatures that users can use in the game’s VoxEdit and Game Maker tools. other IPs of its large portfolio of popular game franchises.

The Sandbox has partnered with several other companies within its metaverse. Most recently, it partnered with Warner Music Group to create a music-themed world in the Metaverse. Sébastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, said: “We welcome Ubisoft to the open metaverse as we work together to create new possibilities for players, fans and creators with blockchain and the Web3.”

Guillaume Mammi, Ubisoft’s Senior Director of New Business and Partnerships, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to bring Rabbids to The Sandbox community and allow players to create their own original experiences by incorporating elements of our gaming IP. We can’t wait to see how they make the world of Rabbids their own. The Sandbox is an obvious new fun playground to Rabbids’ long list of global invasions, and a great opportunity for Ubisoft to experiment with a metaverse experience for its brands.

Ubisoft’s best video game IP includes Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, though it hasn’t announced which additional IP will go into The Sandbox.

During this time, the company experimented with other gaming experiences alongside its metaverse experience. It was one of the first AAA game publishers to announce its own NFTs. He rolled these non-fungible tokens (NFTs), called Digits, to Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

The Sandbox, on the other hand, is an online metaverse platform that allows anyone to purchase LAND plots sold as NFTs. Users can then create interactive experiences on top of this digital pitch, and even monetize the pitch by charging money to access games and spaces, or renting owned pitches from other builders. Players can also buy and sell NFTs, as well as use external NFT assets.
