Twitter is bleeding money every year and Elon Musk and his team are scrambling to save the social network from bankruptcy. This, in turn, means that some platform features will require a subscription in order to increase the revenue stream. The latest feature to be affected is free API access for developers.

Starting Feb. 9, developers and businesses that rely on Twitter’s APIs will have to pay a monthly fee to access data. In one of its tweets, the company states that Twitter holds one of the largest and most powerful datasets. It therefore undertakes to maintain its relationship with the entities that use the APIs of the website and also to allow faster and more complete access in the future.
