Trae Young Joins Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in Unique Playoff Record During Game 1 Win Over Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks’ Eastern Conference Finals was a game of the experiences vs the amateurs. The Bucks made their way to the ECF for the second time in three seasons, whereas the Hawks have a young but talented roster. Yet, the two looked equally matched and were trading leads throughout the game. Unfortunately for the Bucks, the Hawks were able to one-up them in this one and the credit goes to Trae Young.

Trae Young with another record-breaking performance

The last time anyone saw the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA finals was in 1974. And this is exactly what this team seeks to alter. The Hawks go even further back with their last appearance being in 1961. And now, the Hawks have taken the first big step in changing that by taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Thanks to Trae Young’s best efforts, who ended the night with a whopping 48-point performance, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds, the Hawks managed a last-minute win. Young also got enough help on the scoring front from his supporting cast, which is why they landed on the winning side. The other two scorers in the Hawks were Kevin Huerter and John Collins. They added 13 and 23 points, respectively.

In fact, this was another historic night for the Hawks superstar. He added his name to the list of highest-scoring conference final games, tying with LeBron James and surpassing Kobe Bryant.

Despite the Bucks being the favorite to win this game, the Hawks kept them at arms’ length throughout. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday compiled 67 points in total together. But that didn’t count for anything as they were unable to maintain the lead they got and let the Hawks take over and win the game at 116-113.

Can the Bucks cover the deficit?

Both teams had to jump through hoops to get this far as well. The Bucks had a tiring seven-game series against the Brooklyn Nets and were almost pushed to the brink of elimination. Even the Atlanta Hawks are coming off playing all seven games against the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers.

What one can assume is that they entered this game exhausted. Even though the Hawks dropped the ball in the fourth quarter, trailing the Bucks, they were able to make their comeback.

But it seems like the two polar opposite teams are going to make this series more interesting. The Hawks have a shot at tying the series in a Game 2 considering how close they came to winning the first one. What do you think?
