Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris offers verdict on Arsenal’s William Saliba

Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris offers verdict on Arsenal’s William Saliba

Hugo Lloris has been full of praise for Arsenal’s William Saliba recently.

Saliba, despite signing for the club in 2019, is yet to make a competitive appearance for Arsenal.

Instead, the stopper has been loaned out on three occasions and is currently plying his trade in France with Marseille.

And though he still lacks some experience, Saliba is now a key cog in Marseille’s backline, who boast one of the best defences in Ligue 1 this term.

Now, despite never playing for Arsenal’s senior team, Saliba could be set to earn his hist France cap after being called up to the squad on the back of Benjamin Pavard’s withdrawal.

After being called up for Les Bleus, Saliba has obviously been working with Tottenham and France no.1, Hugo Lloris, who has been full of praise for the youngster recently:

“What he’s doing at a club like Marseille at 21 years of age, that’s impressive,” Lloris said.

“He’s got this calm strength about him. We feel him ready and serene. He’s got the assets to go up another level in his career.”

France’s international break

France are set to play out two matches during the March international break.

Les Bleus were able to finish top of their 2022 World Cup qualifying group, picking up five wins and three draws from eight outings to secure 18 points.

As a result, they do not have to take part in any of the World Cup play-off matches which will be going on over the next week.

So, Didier Deschamps’ side will instead only be participating in friendlies over the current break.

France will first take on Ivory Coast later this evening at the Stade Velodrome. They will then play host to South Africa on Tuesday the 29th of March at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
