Tottenham star open to January loan move
Tottenham star open to January loan move
Tottenham and Wales star Joe Rodon is believed to be open to departing Spurs during the next transfer window, according to reports.
Joe Rodon’s Tottenham stint
Joe Rodon was signed by Tottenham in October of 2020 from Championship outfit, Swansea City.
Spurs are understood to have paid the Welsh outfit just shy of £11m for the defender’s services.
However, despite being at the club for over a year now, Rodon has only managed to notch 20 appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites.
This may have something to do with the fact Tottenham are now on their 3rd permanent manager since Rodon joined the club, with Ryan Mason also being placed in temporary charge at the back end of the 2020/21 campaign.
And with Rodon still fairly inexperienced at the top level, it is easy to see why an incoming manager may wish to avoid using the 24-year-old too much and instead go for more experienced options – even if they are probably worse options than the Welshman.
Joe Rodon to leave Tottenham in January?
Now, with Rodon once again looking set to be a fringe star under Antonio Conte, it appears that the stopper is open to departing the club in January.
Fans of Rodon should not sweat too much, though, as it does look as though any potential move would be a loan.
When asked about Rodon recently football.london’s Alasdair Gold stated:
“The centre-back is understood to be open to a loan move in January in order to get time on the pitch but much could depend on whether Spurs bring in a new centre-back, particularly if Cristian Romero’s injury proves to be serious.”
