Tottenham see late bid for Atletico Madrid star turned down as they seek reinforcements

Tottenham have been knocked back in a late move for Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco, according to a report from the Telegraph.

The Lilywhites are still looking to add to their squad, with both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur expected to join the club in the coming hours.

And, in doing so, they have explored a move for Carrasco, who has played at wing-back and on the wing for Atletico so far this season. His 20 appearances this season have yielded 2 goals and 5 assists in a struggling Atleti side, who have already lost Kieran Trippier to Newcastle this window.

With a 60 million euro release clause, it was thought that Carrasco could follow suit, but David Ornstein now reports that there is ‘no chance’ of a deal being struck before the deadline, and indeed that the release clause had expired days ago.

Spurs outgoings first

Tottenham are still planning on waving goodbye to several players today, with Bryan Gil, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli all in various stages of moves away from the club, although it is unclear whether the latter 2 will beat the deadline.

This would free up additional space for late moves, but it is unclear just who those players are, and whether Spurs will be able to get the deals over the line.
