Tottenham reportedly close to agreeing deal with Antonio Conte

Spurs flattened by Manchester United

Tottenham found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline on Saturday evening as the much anticipated clash with Manchester United fizzled into disappointment.

Keen to prevent further leaking of goals (having conceded 11 in their last 3 games), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted for a back three, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw occupying the wing-back roles.

It proved effective too, as a lacklustre Tottenham side could not break through the defensive structure of the Red Devils, with Harry Kane having another game to forget in a lilywhite shirt.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford ultimately sealed the deal, and it was boos that could be heard echoing around the Tottenham Hotspur stadium at half and full0time as Nuno Espirito Santo continues to prove himself incredibly unpopular in north London.

Tottenham reportedly sound out Antonio Conte

Despite the defeat, it was thought that Nuno Espirito Santo’s job was safe, with Dan Kilpatrick of the London Evening Standard reporting that:
“he is not thought to be in immediate danger with a defeat on Saturday, with an acceptance at Spurs that they are starting a new cycle which could take years to peak.”

However, the manner of the defeat may have changed things, with Tottenham not showing a single creative bone in their body as they limped to defeat.

And now, as per Italian outlet tuttomercarto, Spurs are making contact with Antonio Conte as they seek a change in management.

Conte. of course, has been out of work since he departed Inter Milan in the summer, and is thought to be top of Manchester United’s list should they sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With pressure building on Nuno, could Tottenham steal a march on the Italian?
