Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano gave a recent update on Harry Kane‘s situation regarding his likely move to Manchester City in an exclusive with SportsIllustrated’s Manchester City outlet City Xtra.

Tottenham transfer news: Kane and Kounde updates; Spurs to hunt for Ndombele replacement

LEICESTER, ENGLAND – MAY 23: Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur poses with the Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Golden Boot Winner award, and the Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Playmaker Winner award following his team’s victory in the Premier League match between Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur at The King Power Stadium on May 23, 2021 in Leicester, England. According to the Italian, the England international hitman remains City’s top summer priority as they look for a headline goalscorer after losing Sergio Agüero (now at Barcelona), and the inability for Gabriel Jesus to truly kick on as a reliable front man despite his tactical versatility.

With Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy angling for the club to receive a massive financial windfall with Spurs hoping to receive as close to their £150-million asking price as possible, Romano also made mention of the clubs’ efforts in sounding out replacements for the goalscoring machine if his expected move comes off before the closing of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham must field an ‘important’ bid if they are to secure Jules Kounde

Tottenham remains linked with interest in Seville’s French international center-back Jules Kounde, despite the business they have already done this summer thus far.

The acquisition of Atalanta’s Cristian Romero was seen as a coup by the club, but with both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld no longer plying their trade in north London, new boss Nuno Espírito Santo may look to bring in another center-back before the window closes.

Sevilla technical director Monchi has since been quoted as saying that the Andalusian outfit will part with the Paris-native as long as the correct financial restitution is received.

Premier League rivals Chelsea remain in the driver’s seat in securing a deal for Kounde, but Spurs are more than capable of stealing a march on the Blues if they table a bid deemed sufficient enough considering that Sevilla has yet to receive a formal offer from any club.

Tanguy Nbombele to consider his options; Spurs to sound out potential replacements

Things have gone from bad to worse for Tanguy Nbombele as the French international remains on the periphery in north London despite big expectations surrounding the Frenchman when he arrived on English shores.

Having failed to truly make an impact after his move from Olympique Lyonnais in 2019, the 24-year-old Longjumeau-native is now said to be considering his options and could angle for a move away from the club this summer, which has placed Tottenham in a situation now where they are sounding out potential replacements.

Spurs are now being linked with interest in a trio of potential midfield options; Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Swiss international Denis Zakaria, and Sporting CP’s João Palhinha.

Tottenham has already been credited with serious interest in Palhinha, with it being reported that Espírito Santo has given the green light for the club to secure his services, which is rumored to cost around £14-million. Should a deal be struck for the Portuguese international, it is assumed that Ndombele’s time in north London would rapidly be reaching its conclusion.
