Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg responds to half-time boos during Leeds clash

Tottenham see off Leeds

Tottenham would pick up their first Premier League win under new boss Antonio Conte on Sunday.

The Italian won his first game in charge of the Lilywhites – a Europa Conference League clash with Dutch outfit Vitesse.

However, Conte and co. then failed to beat a struggling Everton side in his first PL clash in charge of the north Londoners. That game finished 0-0 and Spurs did not manage a single shot on target.

Vs Leeds, however, Tottenham were able to come away with a 2-1 win – a result which saw them climb up to 7th in the Premier League table and to within just one point of 5th.

It was not all plain sailing on the day, however, as Tottenham actually went in at half-time 1-0 down after failing to register a shot on target.

As a result, Spurs fans let their feelings be known by booing their players as they headed in for the break.

Now, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who scored Spurs’ equaliser vs Leeds, has responded to the boos he and his teammates received:

“I kind of understand [the boos],” Hojbjerg said afterwards. I hope it won’t happen again but I understand there are high demands and high pressure.

“The fans have great expectations because we’re a great team, so I take that as a compliment. We’re here to perform well and let the fans celebrate, which is the main thing. We did that in the second half and the fans were incredible in the second half also, so let’s try to do that from the start.”
