Tottenham in talks to terminate right-back contract following Emerson signing
Tottenham sign Emerson
Tottenham Hotspur have added a right back to their ranks on deadline day in the form of Emerson Royal from Barcelona.
The 22-year-old only returned to Barcelona earlier this summer from Real Betis, but joins Tottenham in a deal thought to be worth around 25 million euros.

Emerson, as per Spurs, has signed a deal until 2026 and will wear the number 12 shirt.
They add that the defender will travel to London from Spain later this week.
Emerson’s arrival now means that Spurs have four players competing for the right-back spot, with Serge Aurier, Matt Doherty and Japhet Tanganga already at the club.
“Agreement close” to terminate Serge Aurier’s contract
This may not be the case for long, however, with Serge Aurier reportedly in talks to terminate his Spurs contract, which has 12 months left to run. As per the reliable Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, of Football.London, “Serge Aurier has been told” that he will not be part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season.
As a result, “he is in talks… to terminate his contract”, with the suggestion that the agreement is “close”.
As I said earlier Serge Aurier has been told exactly what awaits him this season if he remains at Spurs – not a lot. As per @RMCsport, he’s in talks with Tottenham to terminate his contract a year early and I understand an agreement is close. https://t.co/vOyB3UcDgB

It would mark the end of a four-year spell with Tottenham, since he joined the club from Paris Saint Germain. The 28 year old has made 77 premier league appearances for the Lilywhites, but is yet to feature this season for Spurs, and now looks to have played his final game for the club.
