Tottenham fans will love what Heung-min Son said about his future following Man City triumph

Tottenham see off Man City

The first Premier League gameweek of the 2021/22 season drew to a close a short time ago.

The final clash of the weekend would see Tottenham play host to current champions, Manchester City.

The Sky Blues headed into the tie as favourites, especially when it was confirmed that Harry Kane was not in the matchday squad.

And whilst Man City started the tie on the front foot and probably should have scored in the opening 15-20 minutes, it would be Spurs who broke the deadlock in north London.

Steven Bergwijn broke on the counter before slipping in Heung-min Son, who went on to score the only goal of the day:

Son speaks on Tottenham future

After his match-winning display, Son was quizzed on his Tottenham future.

The South Korean signed for the Lilywhites in 2015 and recently penned fresh terms until 2025.

If he were to see out his current deal, he would have been at Spurs for a decade.

And when asked if this is something he would like to happen post-Man City, Son said yes, before going on to state that he does not want to move clubs again:

“Yes, if I can stay for another four years and football is never promised, so let’s see. That’s why I signed because I don’t want to move again somewhere else.

“I could be here for 10 years or more than 10 years, you never know what’s going to happen in the future, but I try to be focused every day, I try to improve every day and every single season. I think that the mindset is more important than the testimonial after 10 years.

“I didn’t expect to sort out the contract so early because I had a couple of years left. They showed how much they love me, I have already played six years here, but they give me so much and I wanted to give something back.

“I’m so grateful to be here, it’s an honour to play for this club. Another four years, I think we can achieve great things.”
