Tottenham take on Burnley in Carabao Cup fourth round

Following a toothless display against West Ham in the Premier League last weekend, Tottenham Hotspur travelled to Lancashire to take on Burnley in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Spurs, struggling for form this season, had only just squeezed past Wolves in the third round on penalties, and will be looking for a more convincing result this time around.

The importance of the game, and potentially competition, to Nuno Espirito Santo was made clear from the team-sheet, where five of the 11 that lost to the Hammers named in the starting XI, alongside a wealth of other experienced players.

Burnley, themselves struggling for form too, opted for a similarly strong eleven, and the sides are currently locked in a 0-0 stalemate coming up to half-time. Should it remain even, the tie will head straight to penalties.

Nuno dealt injury concern as youngster limps off

Midway through the first half, however, Spurs and Nuno were dealt a blow on the personnel front. Spanish attacker Bryan Gil was forced off with an apparent injury, and was replaced by experienced Brazilian Lucas Moura.

As per those watching, the summer acquisition was allegedly holding his right hamstring, suggesting that it may be more than simply an impact injury, which will worry Lilywhite fans.

How much of a blow could this prove to be for Spurs and their under-pressure boss?
