Tottenham dealt blow in race for Ilaix Moriba with latest update
Tottenham chase Ilaix Moriba
In the dying days of the summer window, it appeared that Tottenham were set to splash out once more on a promising midfielder, this time in the form of Ilaix Moriba. The Barcelona youngster has just 12 months left on his current contract, and is allegedly refusing to extend his deal, prompting clubs across Europe to be put on red alert.
As per Spanish media, Moriba’s agent was in London on Saturday for crucial talks with Spurs, with a fee with Barcelona for his services already having been agreed.
Here are my Tottenham talking points, including Moriba, Sissoko, Sarr, Traore, Kane, Gil, Sessegnon, just how connected to his phone Fabio Paratici is and what the final days of the transfer window holds for Spurs. https://t.co/J02xBmd0L5

In English press too, the interest appeared credible, the reliable Alasdair Gold revealing that:
“Tottenham [were] feeling it’s just too good an opportunity to turn down as they look to try to secure one of the game’s top young players.”
However, he did caveat the statement with:
“The move for Moriba is still at a delicate stage, with plenty of big clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, looking at what would be a bargain buy of less than £20m for one of Europe’s top young players.”
Moriba seemingly close to Leipzig switch
However, it appears that Spurs have been dealt a blow in their chase for the 18-year-old as Fabrizio Romano reports that personal terms have been agreed with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Ilaix Moriba and his agents have an agreement with RB Leipzig since weeks. It’s a five-years contract agreement valid from June 2022. Moriba’s agents still want this deal to go through. 🔴 #RBLeipzig
Barcelona are waiting for proposal to sign Moriba immediatly, as per @Sky_MaxB.

Ilaix Moriba to RB Leipzig is looking more and more likely. The player’s side told Tottenham yesterday that they have made their choice to join the Bundesliga.
Moriba would be the replacement for Marcel Sabitzer. Fee around 20m€. #TransferUpdate

It only remains for an agreement to be struck between the two clubs for Mroiba to swap Spain for Germany, and frustrate Spurs in the process.
