Conte pleads for signings

Tottenham staged a remarkable comeback from 2-1 down against Leicester City, scoring twice in added on time to injury time to come out as 3-2 winners.

And while the euphoria remains, the cold light of day shows once again that Tottenham need January additions if they want to truly make top 4 their own this season.

Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte effectively pleaded for new signings, saying:

‘I know that the transfer window in January is always very difficult and it is more simple when you start the season to buy important players. In January it is not easy, but at the same time we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it’s not the best opportunity, but we need to do something.

Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that we are in a situation where we have to try to implement the squad because the squad is not so big.’

And now, could they move for AC Milan’s Franck Kessie?

Early move for Kessie?

Now, as per the Telegraph, Spurs are considering making a winter move for soon-to-be out of contract AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Ivorian has six months left on his deal, and it is thought that a move now would help avoid the increased competition that they could face to lure him to north London as a free agent.

As per Mike McGrath:

‘Spurs are weighing up a move this month while the mid-season window is open to land a player high on their list of transfer targets to bolster Antonio Conte’s midfield.

While they would need to pay a fee for Kessié rather than land him on a free, the competition in the summer is expected to drive up the overall outlay of signing the former Atalanta midfielder.’

This move would add some much-needed dynamism to a stale looking Tottenham midfield.
