Tottenham blow? Major update in Arsenal’s Dusan Vlahovic pursuit

Word stemming from Italy on Friday points towards considerable developments in Arsenal’s pursuit of Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic.

Viola sensation

Regular viewers of Italian football have of course long been well accustomed to the talents of Serbian starlet Vlahovic.

After first showcasing his talents en route to 6 Serie A goals across the 2019/20 campaign, the 21-year-old exploded onto the scene last time out, finding the net 21 times whilst lining out for a frankly average Fiorentina side.

The 12-time capped international possesses a whole host of stellar attributes, including aerial prowess and a remarkable knack for finishing half chances.

Such traits, meanwhile, were on full display during the summer, when Vlahovic’s goalscoring exploits finally began to pique widespread attentions across the continent.

Remarkably, during a pre-season friendly meeting with minnows Polisportiva, the Serb went on to bag no fewer than 7 (SEVEN) goals, despite having only been introduced off the bench at half-time.

Arsenal make first move

And such stellar exploits have since carried forth into the early months of the new campaign, too, with Vlahovic having racked up ten goals across twelve appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that a whole host of clubs from across the continent have begun sniffing around the striker’s signature.

The summer window, for example, saw the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and, chiefly, Tottenham all tipped as potential landing spots.

The latter were understood to have identified Fiorentina’s main man as the ideal replacement for wantaway hitman Harry Kane.

And, as outlined above, on Friday, a significant development, pointing towards Vlahovic’s potential arrival in England, has been revealed online.

As per a report from Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal, not Tottenham, have stepped up to the plate, courtesy of a meeting with the Fiorentina brass over the potential signing of Vlahovic in January.

It is even suggested that, despite the attacker’s expiring contract (up in 2023), the Gunners would be willing to meet the Viola’s hefty 80 million euro demands, by way of considerable bonuses.

And the Serie A outfit, for their part, would seemingly be open to such a deal, keen to sort the future of their talisman sooner rather than later.

However, one major stumbling block remains in Arsenal’s pursuit, in the form of the wishes of Vlahovic himself. It is suggested that the Serb and his team of agents would rather wait until next summer to make a definitive decision, in the hope of ‘more important offers’.
