Tottenham “agree fee” for Arsenal target Lautaro Martinez

Lautaro to North London?

Shocking reports have emerged today that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on a fee for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez. As per The Times, a deal could be struck for a fee “in excess of 60 million pounds”, with the view that “the Inter Milan forward would play alongside Harry Kane”.

The news, if true, will come as a massive blow to Arsenal, who were thought to have been tracking the Argentine forward as a potential addition to the red half of north London.

Inter, meanwhile, are in financial freefall, having already sold Achraf Hakimi to PSG and being on the verge of selling Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea for a fee in excess of 100 million euros.

Reports from Italy last night suggested, however, that they could still sell off many of their assets, with the club in desperate need of finances.

As a result, it is perhaps unsurprising to see news about the future of Martinez emerge.

“Big Personal offer” from Arsenal

Arsenal remain interested in the striker, as per journalist Dean Jones, but are yet to make a credible bid for the 24-year-old.

However, it is thought that Martinez has “a big personal offer on [the] table from Arsenal”, which Tottenham have not matched.

However, personal terms will mean nothing if Arsenal cannot come up with the cash to satisfy Inter’s demands, and with Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah all still at the club, spending significant sums on another striker seems unlikely.
