Three clubs scout Liverpool target as interest in Colombian spikes

Three clubs scout Liverpool target as interest in Colombian spikes

Three clubs, not including Liverpool, were in attendance to watch Liverpool target Luis Diaz sparkle for Porto last weekend.

That is according to Spanish outlet AS, who report that scouts of Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United were all in attendance as Diaz’s Porto side claimed a 3-1 win over Famalicao, a result that extends their lead at the top of the table to 6 points over second-placed Benfica.

Diaz impressed too, netting the second goal in fine fashion, and only adding money to his valuation, which was previously thought to be around the 60 million pound mark.

That strike takes his tally to 14 goals and 5 assists in 18 games in the Portuguese top flight, which is on course to match Bruno Fernandes’ best season in the Primera Liga, where he provided a total of 35 goal contributions in 33 games.

Liverpool need to make a move

With clubs now ramping up interest in the Colombian, Liverpool need to act fast.

Their interest is thought to be concrete, but they are unwilling to stump up the sum demanded of them by Porto, especially in the January transfer window. With the contract of Mohamed Salah still up in the air, they need to sort that first, but finding competent backup for the Egyptian and Sadio Mane is a priority too, with Divock Origi out of contract in the summer.

Takumi Minamino has flattered to deceive, meaning that the Reds may need to dip into the market. They may baulk at the fee, however.
