Three Chelsea players Frank Lampard could target as Everton boss

Three Chelsea players Frank Lampard could target as Everton boss

After sacking Rafa Benitez on the back of a 2-0 loss at the hands of basement-dwelling Norwich, Everton finally look set to appoint a new boss.

The man expected to take the reins at Goodison Park is Frank Lampard, who has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in January of 2021.

Fabrizio Romano would confirm the news on Friday evening:

Who should Frank Lampard target?

Unlike when he first joined Chelsea, Frank Lampard will be able to make transfers at Everton.

Granted, he may have left it too late to get anyone in before Monday’s deadline, but the former midfielder will no doubt put his own stamp on this squad come the summer.

And given he is a Chelsea legend, managed the club and has a strong relationship with many at the Bridge, you would assume that Lampard will be eyeing up some Chelsea talent as soon as he gets the chance.

And at 101, we have picked out three Chelsea players Frank Lampard should look to bring to Everton.

Billy Gilmour

The first is Billy Gilmour, currently on loan at Norwich.

The midfielder was handed his Premier League debut by Frank Lampard and would put on a number of starring displays under the Englishman, including in a 4-0 win over Everton and vs Liverpool in the League Cup.

Following Lampard’s dismissal in west London, Gilmour fell out of favour and was loaned to Norwich.

Gilmour has since become a regular feature under Dean Smith, so a January recall seems unlikely. But there does look to be a real chance Everton could sign the Scot in the summer (likely on loan).

Chelsea do need some fresh legs in central midfielder, but it is fair to say that if any of Chelsea’s young talents are to become a regular feature for them next season, then Conor Gallagher is the most likely.

So, as Lampard knows Gilmour well, gave him his debut and Everton are a step up from Norwich, a loan move for Gilmour to Everton does appear like it would suit all parties next campaign.

Malang Sarr

The next Chelsea player Lampard should look to bring to Everton is Malang Sarr.

The Frenchman has limited experience in the Premier League, but owing to injury issues at Chelsea, he has been given a chance to shine in recent months.

Sarr has grasped that opportunity with both hands, putting on some stellar displays vs the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham.

And given Sarr is – apart from during this injury/form crisis – a fringe star, it is hard to see Chelsea demanding too much for him, especially if they sign a big-name centre-back of their own in the summer.

Armando Broja

The final player Frank Lampard should look to sign from Chelsea is Armando Broja.

Broja is currently on loan at Southampton and the Saints are said to be eyeing a permanent deal for the youngster.

But if that does not transpire this month, Everton should definitely move for him in the summer.

Broja, 20, has scored five and assisted one in 18 Premier League games this term and would likely be a perfect signing for Everton.

The Toffees clearly need some better back-up for Dominic Calvert-Lewin than Salomon Rondon and as Broja is still fairly young, he can continue to hone his craft as a partner/back-up for DCL without putting too much pressure on himself to be the main man too early in his career.

Broja is also likely well aware of Lampard’s excellent record with young talents at Chelsea, which could potentially persuade him to sign for the Merseysiders.
