Thomas Tuchel names key behind successful first year at Chelsea
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea stint
Thomas Tuchel was appointed as Chelsea manager on the 26th of January, 2021.
Tuchel took over a side that had floundered under Frank Lampard and looked as though they would struggle to even secure a top-four spot in the Premier League.
However, despite taking over in January, Tuchel was able to somewhat surprisingly, take the Blues to the 2020/21 Champions League final, seeing off Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid along the way before eventually beating Manchester City in the final.
Tuchel speaks out on key to Chelsea success
Chelsea’s 2021/22 form has since dipped off somewhat of late, but the Londoners are in the League Cup final and going strong in both the FA Cup and Champions League.
Now, with his year-anniversary as Chelsea boss approaching, Tuchel has been asked to name the key to his successful first year in charge, to which he responded:
“A strong club, a strong team, and the luck that it’s a good fit. It’s a good fit in terms of mentality, it’s a good fit in terms of work ethic, and I think you need luck.
“I just read, some days ago, a good quote that says the journey itself matters but much more important is the company on the journey, that you reach your targets, and I cannot agree more.
“The company here, the support here at the club, from day one, it’s been outstanding. I feel so good. I feel like I can be the best version of myself, and I’m trusted and supported, and you can never, ever underestimate that. So, big credit.”
