Frenkie De Jong struggles in Catalonia
Last week, rumours surfaced that Frenkie De Jong was up for sale amid Xavi’s reorganisation of Barcelona since he arrived in the wake of Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman arrived in Spain from Ajax in 2019, and has played virtually every minute that he has been fit.

However, with the breakthroughs in consecutive seasons of first Pedri and now Gavi, could they be looking to offload an expensive asset?
Xavi shuts down claims
In short, no.
If the word of Xavi is anything to go by, then De Jong will unsurprisingly be remaining in Catalonia for the forseeable future. Speaking ahead of Barca’s clash with Villareal on Saturday evening, Xavi said:
“We need them [de Jong, Gavi] – they are not for sale at all. Selling them isn’t our idea. Riqui Puig is like another player in our team. We count on him”.
