The wait continues… The latest on Lionel Messi’s PSG debut
A fresh insight into when Lionel Messi could finally mark his debut in the colours of Paris Saint-Germain has been forthcoming on Thursday.
PSG switch
The name of Argentine superstar Messi has of course taken centre stage in the media over the last couple of weeks.
This comes with the legendary attacker, on the back of a 21-year spell with the club, having been forced to bid farewell to La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.
Just hours after it had been widely reported that a contract agreement between the two parties was close, the Blaugrana released a statement, admitting that they had essentially been left with no choice but to part with the club’s greatest-ever player.

Widespread chatter, in turn, swiftly followed surrounding where Messi could end up next, with the 34-year-old having been available as a free agent.
When all was said and done, though, despite the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all being tipped as potential landing spots, it came as little surprise when the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner opted to take his talents to France, with Paris Saint-Germain:

Messi missing
Messi, in turn, has since gone on to link up with his new teammates, ahead of what is widely expected to prove a trophy-laden season in the French capital.
On the back of footage coming to the fore, showcasing the Argentine in the thick of the action in PSG training, meanwhile, murmurs had begun to spread that Messi could even be handed his bow for the club this weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are set to return to Ligue 1 action on Friday night, in a meeting with Brest.
As confirmed by a number of reliable sources, however, Messi will play no part at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, with Neymar having also been ruled out.
Instead, the world’s greatest player looks set to line out for PSG for the first time in a little over a week, versus Reims:
Lionel Messi will not travel with the PSG squad to face Brest tomorrow night, having only just returned to training, as is the case for Neymar as well – Di María, Verratti, Donnarumma and Marquinhos are all expected to be included. (Le Parisien)
