The shirt number that Griezmann will wear at Atletico Madrid revealed
Griezmann returns to Madrid
In the biggest deadline day deal of 2021, Antoine Griezmann left Barcelona in order to return on loan to Atletico Madrid, with an obligation to buy the player at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Barcelona’s financial difficulties have been known to everyone all summer, with the club only able to register Sergio Aguero on deadline day due to Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba taking wage cuts, despite having signed the Argentinian almost two months prior.

Griezmann was a symptom of the club’s poor transfer operations that left them in the disastrous position they found themselves this summer, although through no fault of his own. Signed for 108 million pounds, he has been sold back to Atletico for a third of the price just 2 years later (3 if you add the upcoming season, where he is technically on loan).

For Atleti, however, he is a coup. The 30-year-old adds to a star-studded attack already including Matheus Cunha, Joao Felix and fellow one-time Barca star Luis Suarez, and the rotation between the four will be fascinating to watch.
Griezmann’s number revealed
During his last stint in the Spanish capital, Griezmann wore the number 7 shirt, but this has since been passed on to Joao Felix. Instead, it has been announced that the Frenchman will inherit the number 8 that has been left vacant by the departure of Saul Niguez to Chelsea.

With Saul due back next season, could we see Griezmann change shirt number once more?
