The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 should have a new hinge mechanism, according to a tipster

The latest Galaxy Z Fold5 rumor comes from a reputable leakster ice universe and it tackles a key new addition to the upcoming foldable – its reworked hinge mechanism. The new information confirms that Samsung will be using a new teardrop-style hinge for the Fold5, which isn’t the first we’ve heard of this development. We saw a similar report from the South Korean publication Naver News last month.
Samsung Display’s “droplet” folding hinge mechanism will allow the Fold5’s folding panel to form a droplet shape inside the hinge body, which will prevent crease between the two sides of the panel.

Motorola and Oppo have used similar approaches on their foldables to hide the crease. Ice Universe also shares that the Fold5 will only be 13.xmm thick in its folded state, which is a big improvement over the Z Fold4’s 15.8mm.
